Indori Food Features, History, Cultural Importance

India's cleanest city 'Indore' and biggest city in Madhya Pradesh is well known as “Street Food Capital of India”.

It is said that Indore is the city that eats well and hosts well and takes pride in its food & cuisine.

On 16th May 2019, Indore food got the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognition.

Famous Eating Places

1. Sarafa is one among the most celebrated landmark in Indore. Sarafa opens only after 8.00 p.m to 2:00 a.m at night, and yet it manages to attract a huge crowd every time. Garadu, Khopra Pattice, Batla Kachori, Bhutte ki kees are some of the most famous dishes here.

2. Chappan is famous for the legendary Poha Jalebi breakfast that is an integral part of Indore’s food culture and Indian Expresso is also famous here.

3. Rajwada is well known for its decades-old chaat joints serving sinfully delicious chaat. Most popular centers: Sri Shiv Chat, Sundaram, Geleda chaat.

4. Kothari Market / Madhuram (Chappan Dukan) for Shikanji (a dry-fruit version of the usual lemon drink); Ghamandi Lassi and Apna Sweets for daal bafla are famous in Indore.
