Election Commission of India (ECI) is a permanent Constitutional Body. The Election Commission was established in accordance with the Constitution on 25th January 1950. The day is celebrated as National Voters Day.
The Commission celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2001.
The Election Commission operates under the authority of Constitution per Article 324 and subsequently enacted Representation of the People Act.
