Tri-service maritime exercise “Paschim Lehar” was held off in India’s western coast on 12th February 2018.
The Paschim Lehar exercise was conducted with an aim to build interoperability between Indian Navy, Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Coast Guard.
This Paschim Lehar exercise includes the participation of a large number of ships, submarines and aircraft from Western Naval Command of Indian Navy and units from Eastern Naval Command, Indian Army, Air Force and Coast Guard.
As per the official statement, Over 40 ships and submarines, a similar number of maritime surveillance, fighter aircraft, helicopters and Remotely Piloted Aircraft of the Indian Navy and the IAF participated in Paschim Lehar exercise.
Under Paschim Lehar exercise, the amphibious capabilities of the armed forces, along with the elements of Army Amphibious Brigade were also been deployed and tested for operational tasking during the exercise.
The Paschim Lehar exercise, the Initial phase included a number of weapon firings, including missile, gun and torpedo firings etc.
The Paschim Lehar exercise, the Second phase was arranged to authenticate and clarify the operational plans of the Western Naval Command.
